The New Umbrella Brand Urban Company
I shifted in new city from Mumbai to Pune for the new job opportunity in 2018. Being in Mumbai (Mumbaikar), you are habituated with fast pace life and you get people available for every type of work.
When I shifted to a new city, it was all new/unknown! I didn’t know people, places around and that’s where your struggle starts right from the local / household handyman services.
Thanks to this Digital era that you have variety of Apps that come right there to fulfil all your needs on just a click away. One of the App is ‘Urban Clap’. Urban Clap was launched in Nov 2014. It is the largest home services platform in Asia. Urban Clap solved many issues for millions+ customers. Especially, in the current pandemic situation, people started trusting the company more due its services and the variety of skilled resources that the company is connected to. The company has helped millions of skilled professionals to connect with their customer base via this platform to provide services like never provided before. Examples: Carpentry, housecleaning, or salon services etc.
It would be amazing to work with Urban company because it has indeed solved real public issues and connected the skilled professionals from variety of areas. Few are my suggestions if I were the Product Manager in Urban Company.
Below are the Services that Urban Clap can include:
1. Cooking Gas stove services — In India, the cooking gas service is not consistent. Some of the places have pipeline gas connections and some of them still use the traditional method of purchasing the cooking gas from nearby agencies. Many at times, your gas stove needs regular maintenance and finding a person who would be able to do the job right. Hence, I think Urban Clap should think about giving services in this area.
2. Water purifier services — I guess, this has recently started by Urban Clap.
3. CAR Services — In city like Pune where people owned vehicles are highly used for daily commute, there you have a need for CAR services too. Many times, the vehicles are second-hand/recycled purchases and you need a trustworthy source if something happens to your vehicle. At times, you do not prefer giving your CAR to a reputed company due to high charges that company levies. It would be great if Urban Clap starts the CAR services too.
4. Tailoring services — This is a big issue for females. Whenever you buy new clothes and you don’t find right tailoring service then all your efforts, money, and time go in vain. Also, during this time, the emotional disappointment that you go through is more. Hence, Urban Clap should look at including this into their existing services. As Urban Clap believes in solving real people issues, finding the right tailoring service can be a win-win situation.
5. Packers & Movers Services — If Urban Clap would start providing Movers & Packers services too then it will be an end to end solution and one stop app for people in need for such services.
6. Gardening services — People love to decorate their houses especially when it comes to gardening and making their house look lively. However, they cannot spend enough time due to their fast pace life and work schedule. This is again an interesting area that company can include in their services. In these cases, Urban Clap can rightly step in and start providing gardening services too.
